That partnership brings together three First Nations groups: the Ktunaxa Nation, the Samson Cree First Nation, and the Mnjikaning First Nation. When the resort opened in 2000, it was part of a clear decision to reclaim a difficult site and turn it toward economic and cultural value for those communities.

The resort holds accreditation with Indigenous Tourism Destination. The property stands within the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa Nation, and that is not just a line on a brochure.
